Working Principle of Miniature Circuit Breaker is Mandatory for Engineers

In the recent few years, MCB i.e. Miniature Circuit Breaker component has obtained wide applications in different types of low voltage networks as compared to its counterpart as fuse. Indeed, this fact has also made many students studying B.E. from best engineering colleges in Madhya Pradesh to study about its working principle in detail.

MCB type of circuit is available with two different types of arrangement. One of them takes place because of thermal effect caused from over current condition, while another one took place because of electromagnetic effect on the current.

According to professors of best engineering colleges in Madhya Pradesh, thermal operation in case of Miniature Circuit Breaker taken place by the help of suitable bimetallic strip that heats and deflects during the bending process. Bimetallic strip deflection leads to release of mechanical latch. Since, mechanical latch remains attached with the operational mechanism, it leads to opening of MCB contacts.

However, during short circuit condition, sudden increase in the supply of current leads to electromechanical displacement of the plunger component related to solenoid or tripping coil of MCB. Plunger will strike trip lever to cause release of latch mechanism in no time and consequently, leads to opening of contacts related to the circuit breaker.
